Denim 1

This guide is based on the original Vallejo Game Color (VGC) paints. These colors may no longer exist by these codes/names, if at all.

Base/Shade:

23 Electric Blue + touch of 11 Gory Red + 17 Sick Blue

Highlight 1:

23 Electric blue with a touch of 11 gory red

Highlight II:

Highlight I + 34 Bonewhite

This is the original text I received from someone whose name I, unfortunately, do not remember.

For the base coat I use 23 Electric blue with a touch of 11 gory red to warm it up. I add 17 Sick blue to do the shading and add 34 Bonewhite for highlights.

The best method is to thin the highlight paint and draw thin lines around pockets , flys , and turnups to simulate where the washing machine rubs the colour off. Have a look at a pair of your own.

Finally, I add a tiny amount of yellow to the highlight paint and drybrush the knees and posterior where working jeans get most wear.

Actually, there are no hard and fast rules on the paint you use, as Jeans come in so many shades. The important thing to remember is most blues are too cold and need a little maroon (hardly noticeable) to make the shade richer.

Old Painting Notes

I just found a stack of old painting notes that I never got around to putting into an electronic format. Some of the paint colors are likely no longer available, or at least not in that particular name.
